Parent's Playbook: A Guide to Essential Baby Feeding Products!

Updated November 2023

Feeding your baby is one of the most important and rewarding tasks you’ll do as a parent.

Whether you choose to breastfeed or use formula, you must consider various aspects to ensure their nutrition, health, and well-being. Here, we present a list of products to make this task easier and help you take care of your baby.

Formula (Holle Stage Pre Organic Formula; Holle 1 Organic; HiPP; Earth’s Best Organic)

These formula brands are made with natural and organic ingredients, free from additives or preservatives. Suitable for infants from birth to 12 months, they must be prepared as per package instructions using boiled or bottled water. Store in a cool, dry place, discarding any unconsumed portions within an hour.

Bottles BPA free – 6 of the 4-ounce bottles (Tommee Tippee, Comotomo, or Dr. Browns)

BPA-free bottle brands (Tommee Tippee, Comotomo, or Dr. Browns) with a 4-ounce capacity, ergonomic, and anti-colic design. Sterilize before first use and after each feeding. Wash with hot soapy water, microwave, dishwasher, and sterilizer safe.

Nipples Preemie, slow flow

Slow-flow nipples for bottles suitable for preterm or struggling infants. Choose based on mouth size, replacing every two to three months or when worn. Wash with hot soapy water, sterilize with bottles.

Pacifiers (MAM, NUK)

Silicone or latex pacifiers with an anatomical shape for baby’s palate. Sterilize before first use and after each feeding. Wash with hot soapy water, replacing every two to three months or when worn.

Sterilizer (Baby Brezza, Wabi Baby Bottle Sterilizer)

Appliances for sterilizing bottles, nipples, pacifiers, and mouth-contacting accessories. Eliminates 99.9% of bacteria with a quick, automatic steam cycle. Clean regularly, following manufacturer instructions.

Baby foaming dish & bottle soap (ATTITUDE Hypoallergenic Plant & Mineral Based Ingredients, Vegan and Cruelty-free, Unscented)

Soap for washing dishes and bottles made from natural, organic ingredients without fragrances or dyes. Hypoallergenic, vegan, and cruelty-free. Apply a small amount to a sponge or brush, rinse with water.

Bottle drying rack (Boon Grass)

Grass-shaped drying rack for bottles and accessories. Easy to clean, dishwasher safe, and should be placed in a dry, ventilated area.

Bottle Brush

Curved brush with soft, sturdy bristles for cleaning bottles and nipples. Ergonomic handle with a sponge or smaller tip for hard-to-reach areas. Use with hot soapy water, rinse well, replace every two to three months or when worn.

Burp cloths (Beliz Organic Cotton, PureLittle 100% Organic, thick cloth diapers work great)

Organic cotton or cloth diaper burp cloths for cleaning baby spit-up. Place on caregiver’s shoulder or lap, change when soiled. Machine wash with mild detergent and no fabric softener.

Breast Pump – Hospital grade (Madela, Spectra, Elvie Pump)

Hospital-grade breast pumps (Madela, Spectra, Elvie Pump) for efficient milk extraction. Electric or manual with various suction and rhythm levels. Choose based on mother’s needs, following manufacturer instructions.

Haakaa Silicone

Silicone breast pump for collecting unused breast milk. Secure with vacuum pressure. Natural, safe, easy to use and clean. Sterilize before first use and after each feeding. Wash with hot soapy water, microwave, dishwasher, and sterilizer safe.

Nipple Shield

It is a silicone device that covers the nipple and helps your baby if they have difficulty breastfeeding. It can be useful if you have flat or inverted nipples, or if you suffer from cracks or nipple pain. A nipple shield can give your baby more time to learn to latch or improve their sucking ability.

Pumping Bra

It is a special bra that allows you to extract breast milk without using your hands, holding the pump parts and bottles. A pumping bra helps you save time and perform other tasks while expressing milk. The best pumping bra is easy to use, provides excellent support and comfort, and is compatible with any breast pump.

Nursing Pads

They are absorbent cloth pads placed inside your bra to absorb excess breast milk from leaking breasts. They are usually made of soft cotton or a bamboo blend. Nursing pads can be used inside a shirt, a maternity bra, or a pumping bra. Nursing pads help prevent milk waste, protect your clothes from stains, and keep your breasts dry as your body adjusts to a feeding schedule.

Bibs

They are garments that hang from the neck over the chest to protect clothing from accidentally spilled food. Bibs are often used by small children, especially babies, but also by some adults. Bibs are also used when consuming certain “messy” foods. Bibs help keep your baby’s clothes clean and prevent hard-to-remove stains.

Breast Milk Storage Bag

It is a plastic bag designed to safely and fresh store breast milk in the refrigerator or freezer until you are ready to use it. A breast milk storage bag has a secure seal to prevent leaks and a label to note the date and amount of milk. Some breast milk storage bags allow you to directly pump milk into them, reducing the risk of contamination and the number of bottles to wash.
